01
Build the daily room workload
Record expected departures, stayovers, vacant inspections, out-of-order rooms, late checkouts, early arrivals and special room categories. Keep forecast and actual room status separate so the shift can adjust without losing the original plan.
Room quantities should be paired with the property's own service standard and realistic travel, setup and access time.
02
Separate rooms from public areas
Plan lobby, lifts, corridors, washrooms, meeting areas, staff areas and external entrances independently from room cleaning. Identify 24-hour or high-traffic coverage that cannot be absorbed by room attendants.
Back-of-house and public-facing zones may need different timing, equipment and inspection routes.
03
Map linen and amenity flow
Define floor pantries, clean-linen issue, used-linen collection, guest supplies, minibar boundaries and shortage escalation. State who counts, transports and accepts each handover.
Where laundry is external or centralized, include delivery timing and buffer stock without assigning inventory approval to the wrong role.
- Clean issue point
- Used-linen return
- Floor stock control
- Shortage and reject process
04
Design shifts around guest movement
Show morning room release, afternoon service, evening public-area or turn-down needs, night coverage and shift overlap. Include break relief and response to changed room status.
Transport and staff release times should match the actual end of inspection and handover, not only the nominal cleaning period.
05
Set supervision and room inspection
Define team allocation, floor responsibility, inspection sequence, rework and room-status update. State who may release a room and who handles maintenance findings, lost property or guest requests.
A supervisor's room allocation, if any, should leave enough capacity for briefings, inspection and reporting.
06
Prepare a planning pack
Provide the Jeddah property profile, room mix, forecast, public areas, linen model, service standard, shift times and role quantities. Confirm uniforms, meals, transport, lockers, tools, products, induction and supervision.
Review productivity and coverage with the hotel's real operating data; this guide does not promise a universal rooms-per-attendant figure.
